[PATCH] DES LOOP Support

Folks -

I spent the last few days or so playing with the loop back block
device support.

Basically I was trying to get the DES encryption stuff to work. Well,
to make a long story short, I've come up with a patch here that adds
YAO (yet another option) for "CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP_DES".

Play with it and see what you think.

them to floppy.
This option also allows one to mount a filesystem with encryption.
To use these features, you need a recent version of mount, such as
- the one found at ftp.win.tue.nl:/pub/linux/util/mount-2.5X.tar.gz.
- If you want to use encryption, you might also be interested in the
- (old) DES package ftp.funet.fi:/pub/OS/Linux/BETA/loop/des.1.tar.gz.
+ the one found at ftp.win.tue.nl:/pub/linux/util/mount-2.5j.tar.gz.
Note that this loop device has nothing to do with the loopback
device used for network connections from the machine to itself.
Most users will answer N here.

+DES encryption for the Linux kernel, version 2
+==============================================
+This is support for the '-e des' option of "losetup" (available in
+mount-2.5j available at:
+
+ ftp://ftp.win.tue.nl/pub/linux/util/mount-2.5j.tar.gz
+
+Try the following
+
+# dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/myfs bs=1024 count=4096
+# losetup -e des /dev/loop0 /tmp/myfs
+Password: <enter a password>
+Init (up to 16 hex digits): <some initial hex values>
+# mke2fs /dev/loop0
+# mount /dev/loop0 /mnt
+....
+play with your new encryption filesystem
+....
+
+# umount /mnt
+# losetup -d /dev/loop0
+
+Then repeat from "losetup -e des" ... but put in a different set of
+values. You'll see that it can't even get the FS type.
+

+Anyway, the original README follows.

+DES encryption for the Linux kernel, version 1
+==============================================
+
+This package contains a DES block encryption module that can be added
+to the Linux kernel. It is derived from a DES library originally
+written and put under the GPL by Eric Young <eay@psych.psy.uq.oz.au>
+
+
+Installation
+------------
+
+Should work with almost any version of the Linux kernel:
+
+ cd /usr/src/linux
+ gunzip <des.1.tar.gz | tar xvf -
+ touch include/linux/des.h kernel/des.c
+
+If necessary, install packages that need DES. Then rebuild the kernel:
+
+ make depend
+ make zlilo # or something like that

+ The output has been subject to swaps of the form
+ 0 1 -> 3 1 but the odd and even bits have been put into

+ different words. The main trick is to remember that
+ t=((l>>size)^r)&(mask);
+ r^=t;
+ l^=(t<<size);
+ can be used to swap and move bits between words.
+
+ So l = 0 1 2 3 r = 16 17 18 19
+ 4 5 6 7 20 21 22 23
+ 8 9 10 11 24 25 26 27
+ 12 13 14 15 28 29 30 31
+ becomes (for size == 2 and mask == 0x3333)
+ t = 2^16 3^17 -- -- l = 0 1 16 17 r = 2 3 18 19
+ 6^20 7^21 -- -- 4 5 20 21 6 7 22 23
+ 10^24 11^25 -- -- 8 9 24 25 10 11 24 25
+ 14^28 15^29 -- -- 12 13 28 29 14 15 28 29

+ When I finally started to think of the problem in 2D
