I get a (repeatable) kernel panic in Linux 1.99.11 using the following
commands:
mount /cdrom
cd /cdrom
grep -in ftam `find . -type f -print`
The CD-ROM is a Matsishita CD-ROM connected to a SoundBlaster16.

I did an strace on the grep command, the last system calls (written down
from the screen to paper):

mmap(0,335872,PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE,MAP_PRIVATE|0x20,4294967295,0)=0x400e3000
lseek(3,425984,SEEK_SET)=425984
--> crash
