I'd hope that the maintainers of these packages will send Linus appropr=

patches if they update things. (It's happened in the past. ;-)

IMHO, a good place for such a list would be an additional field in the
MAINTAINERS file which would list the URL(s) of the software you need t=
o
use the module in question, and the minimum version (if not encoded int=
o
the URL).
