Hi,

Under 1.3.72 I suddenly got

ide0: reset timed-out, status = 0xd0
hda: status timeout: status = 0xd0
ebd_request: I/O error, dev 03:04, sector 98388
hda: drive not ready for command
...
end_request: I/O error, dev 03:02, sector 17482

The disk light stayed on and all I could do was hit the big switch.
(And on boot I had to fix the root partition manually :( )

The machine: a clone 486DX2 (not PCI), EIDE drive details as follows:

/dev/hda:

Model=ST5660A, FwRev=800365, SerialNo=00DG4067
Config={ HardSect NotMFM HdSw>15uSec SpinMotCtl Fixed DTR>10Mbs }
RawCHS=1057/16/63, TrkSize=36540, SectSize=580, ECCbytes=4
BuffType=3(DualPortCache), BuffSize=256KB, MaxMultSect=32, MultSect=16
DblWordIO=no, maxPIO=2(fast), DMA=yes, maxDMA=2(fast)
CurCHS=1057/16/63, CurSects=1065456, LBA=yes, LBAsects=1066184
tDMA={min:150,rec:150}, DMA modes: *mword0 mword1
IORDY=yes, tPIO={min:200,w/IORDY:180}, PIO modes: mode3

As it happens - b.c. I haven't got round to it - the drive settings
are the defaults (i.e. PIO mode 0, -c 0, -X 0, -u 0, -W 0 etc.) as I
hadn't got round to setting up hdparm (I downloaded it so I could
provide this info!).

Any ideas if this is a kernel bug, or my drive is flakey? It's just
over a year old (and it's my home machine so it's not in intensive
use).

Thanks, :E
