The algorithms used for modem compression are patented as software in
the USA. American citizens should be familiar with this little game by now
;). The modem itself should be obsolete for ISDN in a couple of years
anyway - in some countries anyway. I also don't see the traditional modem
vanishing. RPI modems are useless in too many situations.
