In article <76A8A62185@rkdvmks1.ngate.uni-regensburg.de> you write:
>The current "make config" can tag some questions with a "NEW";
>wouldn't it be a solution to tag some with "OLD" instead? ;-)

Actually, that's something I've been meaning to complain about for a rather
long time, now. Doing a "make config" on a fresh kernel source distribution
and answering yes to "Support non-SCSI/IDE/ATAPI CDROM drives (CONFIG_CD_NO_
IDESCSI)" results in _ALL_ CD-ROM options being tagged with "(NEW)". Here's
a screen snapshot in case that wasn't clear:

*
* CD-ROM drivers (not for SCSI or IDE/ATAPI drives)
*
Support non-SCSI/IDE/ATAPI CDROM drives (CONFIG_CD_NO_IDESCSI) [N/y/?] y
Sony CDU31A/CDU33A CDROM support (CONFIG_CDU31A) [N/y/m/?] (NEW)
Standard Mitsumi [no XA/Multisession] CDROM support (CONFIG_MCD) [N/y/m/?] (NEW) m
Mitsumi [XA/MultiSession] CDROM support (CONFIG_MCDX) [N/y/m/?] (NEW)
Matsushita/Panasonic/Creative, Longshine, TEAC CDROM support (CONFIG_SBPCD) [N/y/m/?] (NEW)
Aztech/Orchid/Okano/Wearnes/TXC (non IDE) CDROM support (CONFIG_AZTCD) [N/y/m/?] (NEW)
Sony CDU535 CDROM support (CONFIG_CDU535) [N/y/m/?] (NEW)
Goldstar R420 CDROM support (CONFIG_GSCD) [N/y/m/?] (NEW)
Philips/LMS CM206 CDROM support (CONFIG_CM206) [N/y/m/?] (NEW)
Optics Storage DOLPHIN 8000AT CDROM support (CONFIG_OPTCD) [N/y/m/?] (NEW)
Sanyo CDR-H94A CDROM support (CONFIG_SJCD) [N/y/m/?] (NEW)
Soft configurable cdrom interface card support (CONFIG_CDI_INIT) [N/y/?] (NEW)

Which is obviously not the intended behavior. I don't really know of a good
solution for this...
