1.3.75 and scsi modules

I just moved from 1.3.57 to 1.3.75 (seemed to be the right time as the
numerology didn't change). Everything built "out of the box" just fine.
BTW the menuconfig is just wonderful! (You can recover from mistakes
without having to re-run config) I built all the scsi as modules with no
problems. The new kernel booted up fine. (bsd_comp.o still complains
about unsatisfied symbols but this is not new) All the scsi modules
seemed to install OK (see lsmod listing below). In the .57 kernel I was
forced to build scsi into the kernel to get it to work, although I still
built the aha1542 driver as a module. In .57, built this way, I had no
problems mounting my Philips 522 CDR drive. In .75 built as modules I get
the error:
mount: /dev/scd0 is not a block device
As I got this error in .57 with module scsi, it was because there was no
aha1542 driver loaded, and that's not the case now.
The following is the output from lsmod:

Module: #pages: Used by:
msdos 2 1
fat 6 [msdos] 1
isofs 5 0
aha1542 2 0
scsi_mod 7 [aha1542] 1
ppp 5 1
slhc 2 [ppp] 1
dummy 1 0

I am running mount-2.5. Do I need to get a newer mount? Am I missing a
module, or is scsi as modules still broken?
Any ideas will be gratefully accepted.

TIA,

Dwarf
