Hm. I've never had this problem before, and I haven't seriously fooled=20
with my machine recently except compiling & installing new kernels, so =
I=20
believe this to be a kernel problem.

Problem:
In the last 2 days, I've had twice the ext2fs message telling me to=20
"reboot now" and run e2fsck manually (oh and btw when that login times=20
out, the machine continues booting normally: strange isn't it?).
When I run e2fsck, the problem is always with the same file,=20
/tmp/diald-fifo.

Setup:
kernel 1.3.72, modules enabled but everything built into the kernel :),=
=20
diald v0.11 (I think), CMD640B interface with a 520Mb hd which contains=
=20
the 111Mb ext2fs root partition, Pentium-75-overclocked-to-100, Sis (?)=
=20
chipset. The machine has never had any significant problems with any=20
kernel before (I think the ones installed before that were .66, .57,=20
.4something, .3something, 1.2.13, 1.2.3 (original slackware setup)).
