It never has been that way, since scrollback is done inside the video RAM
and VT switching operates on the same memory somehow. So this is a feature.

Another problem that could be related: if a process writes to one VC while
another is active, the scrollback of the active VC gets reset to the bottom
(but can be scrolled up again afterwards). This happens on _every_ write,
not just on writes which cause scrolling (as could be imaginable, given the
way it works).

Any chance this can be fixed? This one really makes scrollback unusable if
you have some sort of monitoring process that updates its screen twice a
second.
