I have just upgraded the kernel from 1.3.59 to 1.3.68. Using the current Slackware
3.0 distribution, compiling using ELF, I find that the even though I have done
all the obvious in toggling CDU31a support, I still get no response upon boot up.
I get things to work fine under 1.3.59 (a.out) but nothing anything higher. Is
there a problem here? I also noticed that trying to mount it manually, the error
I get is that dev/sonycd is not a block device, which I attribute to the lack
of recognition of the kernel for the CDROM. At the moment, I have the controler
card (not sound card) running with no IRQ set (due to other stuff in my box
grabbing all other available IRQ seen by the controller card). Has anyone else
run into these problem?

How is the work going on the SMP port of Linux? I my have access to a HP SMP
machine and I wish to try to get it on Linux to see what kind of performance I
can expect from dual pentiums.
