Well, considering that OSF still owns the Motif code and trademark
(tho the standard is now 'open')... If you want to negotiate with the
OSF to make Motif freely available, you're welcome to pay OSF the
$10,000 for the initial Unlimited source licence and $200 per copy fee
:)

Actually, the $99 for Motif is not that unreasonable, since these
companies have to pay $7,500 off the bat, and $43 per copy ($40 for
motif and $3 for mwm) to the OSF, it's not really that bad a deal..
Note that the LessTif project is chugging along currently, although
it's not really usable for real apps it's getting there.. Feel free to
pitch in if you wish to see a freely available Motif clone :)
