What would be *useful* would be a patch that allowed me to enable a
core file dropping mode. I don't know what would be the best
interface; something simple like a loadable module to provide a
"core_file_generate_name" function might be good, then we could
experiment with ioctl's to select per-user, per-directory, or per
program-name dump styles.
Equally important, this would let the default be the sensible
one... and avoid having continuous "patch wars" as we've had for
*years* now on this subject :-)
