Strange behaviour by 1.3.63

I just installed 1.3.63 and everything seemed to be fine, until I tried to
start a program compiled with Ingres' libq while another process took away
more than 50% of my main memory. This Ingres process hang pretty soon. Since
it worked before I expected a bug in Ingres. However, nothing got it going
again. Even rebooting and re-starting the Ingres process (alone!) showed the
same hanging effects.

Until 1.3.62 everything was fine. And to make this even more strange a
reboot with 1.3.62 helps. Under 1.3.62 the process works as fine as before.
But when I reboot again to switch to 1.3.63 it hangs again.

It seems to be rather difficult to trace down the problem in Ingres since
the binary has to run setuid ingres. However, when run from user ingres
strace says that Ingres hangs while reading from filedescriptor 5. Earlier
the process closed all filedescriptors, and created a pipe [5, 6]. I don't
know if this information helps.
