Another suggestion: if you are running klogd, stop running it. Some types
of hangs will be unable to write to files (e.g. /var/adm/messages) but
are able to print out a message on the screen, which could tell you what
is happening. This isn't very convenient in the long run, but for
debugging unexplained hangs it can really help.
