These changes seem to have broken non-scsi compilation for me:

ld -qmagic -Ttext 0xfffe0 arch/i386/kernel/head.o init/main.o
init/version.o \
arch/i386/kernel/kernel.o arch/i386/mm/mm.o kernel/kernel.o
mm/mm.o fs/fs.o ipc/ipc.o net/network.a \
fs/filesystems.a \
drivers/block/block.a drivers/char/char.a drivers/net/net.a \
/home/schz/linux/arch/i386/lib/lib.a /home/schz/linux/lib/lib.a
/home/schz/linux/arch/i386/lib/lib.a -o vmlinux
kernel/kernel.o(.data+0x3ab0): undefined reference to `scsi_dir'
kernel/kernel.o(.data+0x3ab8): undefined reference to `scsi_hba_dir'
make: *** [vmlinux] Error

I haven't tried to fix it yet ... sorry.
