svr3 library

i posted this to comp.os.linux.help, but am hoping that this is a
simple question for someone on this list:

i have an Intel 386, SVR3 UNIX library that I hope to use under
linux. unfortunately, this is not the case so far. when i "nm"
a ".o" file in the library, i get:

"File format not recognized".

Is this possible ?
