I had written concerning a problem with Linux above 1.1.45 on a
Gateway2000 P5-60 system: immediate crash on reboot. Several people
kindly pointed me to GW2K's BBS, where I obtained a new BIOS flash image
that seems to have cured the problem. The old BIOS version was 1.00.03
AF1; the new one is 1.00.06 AF1. (Be *certain* that you have the right
version before reflashing! And I'd recommend using the included tool to
save the old BIOS image, just-in-case.)

I still get the messages about multiple BIOS32 Service Directory
structures, but this doesn't seem to be a problem (as it was not with
1.1.45).
