Once and for all this is not a bug in 1.3.x kernels. This is a change
that has been await, by at least some of us, for quite some time. Finally
the kernel sets the default term to linux instead of console. You need
to update your /etc/termcap for this, but it is a good thing. This is
also the reason it wasn't put in the 1.2.x kernel. Finally now I put
pressure of the administrators of the other machines I use to put a
linux entry in their terminfo and termcap databases.
