Better to use kstrtoul(). simple_strtoul() says:

* This function has caveats. Please use kstrtoul instead.

and kstrtoul() says:

* Returns 0 on success, -ERANGE on overflow and -EINVAL on parsing error.
* Preferred over simple_strtoul(). Return code must be checked.
