vp_vdpa is exactly the part that bothers me. If on the host it is backed
by e.g. vhost-user then it does not work. And you don't know what is
backing it.

OTOH it supports RING_RESET ...

So, proposal: include both this solution and for drivers
vp_vdpa the RING_RESET trick.
