Probably it only contradicts the chosen implementation.

That's fair. I'll replace the condition below with:

if (!cpu_has_amu_feat(cpu))
return -EOPNOTSUPP;

if (WARN_ON_ONCE(irqs_disabled())
return -EPERM;
