PROBLEM: floppy-drive storing inconsistent data using >=V2.6.28 onAMD780 / SB700

Hello,

my floppy-drive is storing inconsistent data using Kernels >= V2.6.28 on an AMD780/SB700-Mainboard.
It only writes corrupted data, while reading files from it still works fine.


I compiled a number of kernels to check out when this happens first

Results:
- drive is working correctly up to V2.6.27.21
- drive is writing inconsistent data using any Kernel >= V2.6.28
(md5sum is incorrect, and I cannot format any disk using fdformat)
The last kernel I tested has been V2.6.29
- READING from it is working perfectly all the time, no matter which
kernel is used
- I can reproduce this using different floppy-Hardware (I replaced
both drive and cable, results are still the same)


Hardware:
- Mainboard ASUS M3A-H/HDMI / Chipset AMD780, SB700
- Processor AMD Athlon 4850e


My Distribution:
- Debian Lenny

I also tried this to make sure its not my specific kernel-setup:
- Knoppix V6.0 (uses Kernel V2.6.28, problem is the same).
- DOS (yes - files are copied correctly)


Can anyone reproduce this on the same or similar hardware with the same chipset?

To reproduce this, you can:
- copy some files to a (known 100% working) floppy and use md5sum to
verify them
- format a floppy using fdformat (this will always lead to an error while
fdformat is verifying the disk)


If you need anything else, just let me know. The data of my system is
attached. I will of course test anything to get this fixed.
