"irq 17: nobody cared" killed my machine (libata, usb, 8139too)

Hi,

A couple of minutes ago I had a crash due to "irq 17: nobody cared".

Disabling IRQ #17

Kernel is 2.6.17 with ATA_ENABLE_PATA enabled. It's been running for
nearly two months now without any problems previously; before that I ran
2.6.16 + ATA_ENABLE_PATA also without problems.

Now, that "Disabling IRQ #17" line meant I lost all my disks. AFAIK
there was some talk about not disabling the interrupt in such
situations; will that be part of 2.6.18?

At the time of the crash, there was some disk activity, so libata may be
responsible for the spurious IRQ. The rtl8139 interface is configured
but had no cable connected so it is unlikely to be the cause. The usb4
port bound to irq 17 did not have any devices connected.
