Linux installation issue

  Hi,
     I have installed linux 2.4.20-6. After successful
completion of the OS it doesnot login to the linux but
gives an error message and ends as...
   ...........

   <0> Kernel Panic : Attempted to kill init

 I need some solution as soon as possible PLZ.
