Silent Northbridge MCE Messages / Kernel 2.4.21-9.0.1.ELsmp

Hi there,

We have problems on Dual Opteron Machines (IBM eSeries 335) with 6GB
RAM running with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 for AMD64.

Our first used Kernel was :

With this Kernel the Machines crashed hard when more Memory than
approximately 5.2GB was allocated and used. The following Message occured:

With this message we weren't able to boot the Machines over sysrq
break. Only power plug off/on helps.

IBM told us to use the newest Red Hat Kernel for Enterprise Linux and set
mce=off as a Kernel Parameter.

We aren't able to reproduce the crashes with the new Kernel but have more
and more Messages in Kernel log like this:

When the Machines is under heavy load, syslogs not working properly
because this messages come in nearly 3 times a sec.

Find attached a boot.log and a error.log from a Machine with the new Red
Hat Kernel.

My Question: Is this a general hardware Error? Does anyone know a
conclusion how to disable this Messages if they can be ignored?
