I had this problem since 2.6.0-test11 (first one I tried), on my laptop.
I posted about this here as well. I was told to disable PNPBIOS and
LOCAL_APIC, which worked (so far).
All the desktops (three) I've tried so far didn't have a problem with or
without PNPBIOS.
