2.4.10 + ibmcam : hard freeze on read()

I've been trying to diagnose why 2.4.10 locks hard, instantly, when
read()ing /dev/video0 (which is an ibmcam usb video camera).

I'm using usb-uhci on an Athlon 600 system. Here is the output of lspci:

00:00.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-751 [Irongate]
System Controller (rev 23)
00:01.0 PCI bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-751 [Irongate] AGP
Bridge (rev 01)
00:03.0 Communication controller: Rockwell International HCF 56k V90
FaxModem (rev 01)
00:06.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905 100BaseTX
[Boomerang]
00:07.0 ISA bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 [Apollo Super South]
(rev 14)
00:07.1 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. Bus Master IDE (rev 06)
00:07.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. UHCI USB (rev 06)
00:07.3 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. UHCI USB (rev 06)
00:07.4 ISA bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 [Apollo Super ACPI]
(rev 10)
00:09.0 Multimedia audio controller: Ensoniq ES1371 [AudioPCI-97] (rev
08)
00:0c.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments TSB12LV23 OHCI Compliant
IEEE-1394 Controller
00:0f.0 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AHA-7850 (rev 01)
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: 3Dfx Interactive, Inc. Voodoo 3 (rev
01)

I have attached my .config

Unfortunately, the hang is instantaneous and I cannot get any info on
what is happening, other than the light on the camera (which indicates
that the camera is sending data) stays on forever after the hang.

This camera worked fine under 2.4.7, the previous kernel I was running.

Has anyone else seen any USB, v4l, or ibmcam problems in 2.4.10?
