Freeze with 2.4.5

I got a system lock-up with 2.4.5 yesterday. System almost completely
freezed (num-lock/caps-lock/scroll-lock didn't work, ctrl-alt-del didn't work,
display frozen). I was in X (XFree86 4.0.2) at the time. Didn't try SysRQ
unfortunately...

Incoming TCP-connections over the network was answered (established) but then
nothing happened (the daemon was never started by xinetd?). Tried ssh, ftp and
www. The system did answer to pinging.

Restarted system with reset-button around 20:37. See attached kern.log.

Standard 2.4.5 kernel compiled from source.
