hello,

over the last few days, i've started to get several error messages of
  the following type:

kernel: kernel BUG at inode.c:486!
kernel: invalid operand: 0000
kernel: CPU: 1
kernel: EIP: 0010:[clear_inode+53/256]
kernel: EIP: 0010:[<c014a365>]
kernel: EFLAGS: 00010286

(2 examples with full output attached along with pci info)

notes:
  (a) kernel is standard 2.4.5
  (b) the EFLAGS vary, but the rest always look the same
  (c) the problem occur both on Apollo Pro266 and KT133 chipsets.
(i.e. both with amd t-bird and p3/ddr systems)

any ideas? i'd be happy to provide more examples if of any help.

regards,
