Hello gentlemen,

We experience some troubles from time to time between our web servers and a NetApp 700 series. Sometimes, at hight loads (it seems), all servers crash at the same time.
Here is a sample of /var/log/messages before they crash :

Sep 20 02:42:03 web kernel: nfs: server web-filer1 not responding, still trying
Sep 20 02:42:04 web kernel: nfs: task 61640 can't get a request slot
Sep 20 02:42:04 web kernel: nfs: task 61661 can't get a request slot
and so long ...

As far as I know this message show that there is a congestion on the RPC socket.

No log on the filer.

Here is the configuration :

FILER :
NetApp Release 5.3.4R3P2
Model Name: F74
Firmware release: 2.3_a2
Memory Size: 512 MB0

nfs.v2.df_2gb_lim off (shared in takeover)
nfs.v3.enable on (shared in takeover)

CLIENT:
Red Hat Linux release 6.2
Kernel 2.2.14-5.0smp on a 2-processor Pentium III (700MHz)
MemTotal: 1036244 kB
nfs-utils-0.1.6-2
The network card :
eepro100.c:v1.09j-t 9/29/99 Donald Becker http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/eepro100.html
eepro100.c: $Revision: 1.18 $ 1999/12/29 Modified by Andrey V. Savochkin <saw@msu.ru>
eth0: OEM i82557/i82558 10/100 Ethernet at 0xfc838000, 00:06:29:DE:7A:C5, IRQ 10.
Receiver lock-up bug exists -- enabling work-around.

I read that a few months ago, someone had the same problem and the eepro100 driver seemed to be incrimined. But the kernel was 2.2.13 #11.
It is the same problem ?
If not, can someone help me out or point me in the right direction ?

TIA

Regards,

Vincent Schultz
