Implementing sleep() inside the kernel

Hi,
I'm trying to implement some sleep inside the kernel that would sleep for some microseconds before sending packets out on the network...
Is there a way this can be implemented without using a dumb spin loop... I don't want to tie up my processor down...

Thanks,
Sincerely,
Aamir
