Just FYI on what other unices might do: HP-UX has "context dependent
files" (mainly for their clustered environment). On our veritable HP-UX
9.05 box, I can do this:

islhp7 #~# mkdir cfile
islhp7 #~# chmod +H cfile
islhp7 #~# ls cfile
cfile not found
islhp7 #~# cd cfile+
islhp7 #/cfile+# echo hi >default
islhp7 #/cfile+# cd
islhp7 #~# cat cfile
hi
islhp7 #~# ls -ld c*
-rw------- 1 root root 3 Aug 14 12:41 cfile
islhp7 #~# ls -ld cfile+
drws------ 2 root root 1024 Aug 14 12:42 cfile+/

This is used to have different file contents for different nodes of a
cluster, breaks tar and a lot of other tools and is generally considered a
broken and useless feature ;)

(btw, you can do it as normal user as well)
