Compilation problem on test6

First time I have had a problem on compiling a kernel in ages.
Probably my modified slackware installation, with the ./include/bits
directory I am using, I have noticed warnings before on non-ansi compliant
issues. (If so, which package do I need to go with to ensure that the
correct version of /usr/include/bits is used?)

gcc version 2.95.2
glibc 2.1.3 (at least ldd is :>)
(can you tell I am in mind freeze?)

Error message diring make zImage:
gcc -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -o
scripts/split-include
scripts/split-include.c
In file included from /usr/include/errno.h:36,
                 from scripts/split-include.c:26:
/usr/include/bits/errno.h:25: linux/errno.h: No such file or directory
make: *** [scripts/split-include] Error 1
