kernel oops with ns558/usb

On my system, I have ns558 and usb-ohci compiled as modules in
linux-2.3.0-test3. If I:

modprobe ns558

it fails with an "operation not permitted" error (yes, I'm root). then, if I
modprobe usb-ohci (which succeeds), modprobe ns558 again (it fails), rmmod
usb-ohci (succeeds), then modprobe ns558, the last step causes a kernel oops. The
oops's as run through ksymoops are below. it doesn't oops if I don't modprobe
ns558 between the insertion and removal of usb-ohci. I have no devices on my USB
bus. its a SiS 7001 usb controller on a SiS530 mobo. if anyone needs any more
information, I'd be glad to provide anything I can.
