Netperf causes lockup in 2.2.15 SMP

  8K word-wide RAM 3:5 Rx:Tx split, autoselect/MII interface.
  MII transceiver found at address 24, status 786f.
  Enabling bus-master transmits and whole-frame receives.
        (isn't sharing interupts with any other devices)

as a netperf sink from a 2.2.17pre10 (PII400/512m) running UDP_RR 100,200
across FDX switch 100bt link.

Hard locked 2.2.15 box (no numlock toggle) with only about a second of
netperf load.

Only one log entry:

Jul 9 01:15:14 home kernel: eth0: Too much work in interrupt, status e881. Temporarily disabling functions (7f7e).
