That compilation problem has been there for many, many kernels now (at
least since early 99prex and possibly <= 2.3.51.
If you or a friend looks through the code it should be obvious what to fix
as I remember... if not, wait for e2fsprogs-1.19. I think the size of
some struct member was changed around, splitting a 32 bit variable into
two 16 bits or something similar.
