here is some detail:

        The CF plugs in a daughter board that is hooked to the SBC
 (industrial single board computer), it is connected to the onboard ide
controller and is configurable as master or slave, thus allowing a hard
drive to be a mate. It's on the primary interface on some boards, but is
usualy on the secondary.

        It is usefull for harsh environement and usually no other drive will
be use at the same time, but during development and tests, ( and technical
support ) it is usefull to have another device available.

of the daughterboard.
You will also see a mistake, it is not related to pc/104 as mentionned.

Im somewhat puzzled by the setup. I'd expect the CF to be its own controller
ie hdc
