end_buffer_io_kiobuf() looks weird, a misapplied patch?

>>>>>
static void end_buffer_io_kiobuf(struct buffer_head *bh, int uptodate)
{
        struct kiobuf *kiobuf;

        mark_buffer_uptodate(bh, uptodate);

        kiobuf = bh->b_kiobuf;
        unlock_buffer(bh);

        kiobuf = bh->b_kiobuf;
        end_kio_request(kiobuf, uptodate);
}
>>>>>>

Why is b_kiobuf read twice?
And I don't understand why we have b_kiobuf at all: AFAICS the kiobuf
functions could use b_dev_id.
