I'm having trouble getting an Avance Logic ALS-100 to work properly.
Upn modprobe of sb.o i get:

Apr 13 01:19:01 fogarty kernel: Soundblaster audio driver Copyright
(C) by Hannu Savolainen 1993-1996
Apr 13 01:19:01 fogarty kernel: sb: ALS100 Media Audio Controller
detected
Apr 13 01:19:01 fogarty kernel: sb: ISAPnP reports 'ALS100 Media
Audio Controller' at i/o 0x220, irq 5, dma 1, 5
Apr 13 01:19:01 fogarty kernel: SB 4.02 detected OK (220)
Apr 13 01:19:01 fogarty kernel: <Sound Blaster 16 (ALS-100) (4.02)>
at 0x220 irq 5 dma 1,5
Apr 13 01:19:01 fogarty kernel: sb: 1 Soundblaster PnP card(s) found.

which looks fine.

If i try to play an 8 bit wav, everything is fine.
If i try to play an mpg-3, i get about 2 seconds of sound, after
which nothing, and the following in my logs:

Apr 13 01:20:12 fogarty kernel: Sound: DMA (output) timed out -
IRQ/DRQ config error?

I can still play 8 bit wav's though.

cat /proc/isapnp:
