Hi,

I was preparing a system for a customer containing:

Gigabyte 6CXC board (based on Intel i820 chipset)
Intel Pentium III 600EB CPU (133 MHz FSB)
512 MB RAM
Matrox G-200 Videoboard
Adaptec 29160 SCSI hostadapter , driving an 9 GB IBM and a 120 GB Arena HW-RAID
3COM 3c905B Network card
Cyclades Cyclom YeP with 16 serial ports (DB-25 box)

I installed a RedHat 6.x (first 6.1, then 6.2) on the machine and got always
the same result:

- cyclades box not connected:

insmod cyclades shows the boot message and "0 port detected"

- cyclades box connected via SCSI cable to the PCI-board:

  complete system lockup

The same board worked flawlessly in a i440BX based board (Gigabyte
GA-6BX7), an intel 430 based board (Tyan Tomcat IV) and a i440BX based
dual processor board (Gigabyte GA-6BXD).

On the i820 board, the DOS-based diagnose tool (cyctest) worked (!). Only
under Linux the board locked up.

Are there any known incompatibilities between the i820 Chipset and the
cyclades boards? I saw another posting about PCI spaces on the YoP
board, maybe these problems are related.

        Regards
                Henning
