   I did this recently too. And wondered for a while why the network
interface wasn't working right. I would ping it, and I'd see the pings
arrive on the other machine but I'd get no replies to it... I had it
configured to something like "192.168.255.2". Changing the 255 to
something else fixed the problem. I agree this should be made illegal if
there are no valid reasons for doing this.
