Time synchronization between two LINUX computer

Hello,

I am looking for synchronization tools between two LINUX computers (without
adding Radio cards).
I know that SNTP (Simple Network Time Protocol) and NTP exists.
In a first short approach, I notice that the best granularity is only 1 ms.

So, I would like to know :
 - if it's true or if it's possible to reach a better granularity,
 - if another simple way to synchronize two (or more) LINUX computers
exists,
   - by other software ?
   - with other hardware means than Ethernet ?

Quid about relationship between "fastimer" and "NTP"

Thanks.
Regards
Jean-Marc
