Didn't you meant 'log-structured filesystem' ?
A very cool one for linux is LinLogFS, which has a small 'kernel'
and can use different minor modified filesystems as personalities
(actually only ext2 is supported).
But it is actually only for 2.2 and modifies buffer.c like 2.2 reiserfs ...)
