Sigh. Thanks to ALL the people who are writing in to tell me this.
I had the misfortune to post from a machine with an old version of elm
(thanks to it being effectively offline longterm when I updated every
other machines elm).

Al together now ... please all edit your mail folder (what, you didn't
compile folder editing into your mua?), and replace "100" with "2000"
in the post with the title

    Subject: proc config

that is now nestling snuggly at the end of your incoming sorted queue.
It went a bit like this:

] Given the discussion about /proc, I'll announce a /proc/config patch
] for 2.2.13 here, with 2.3.44 coming up. Get it from
]
] ftp://oboe.it.uc3m.es/pub/Programs/proconfig-0.8.tgz
]
] Alan .. PLEASE try and include this in one of your pre-releases. It
] makes system admin easy, instead of difficult. Trying to find out
] why a strange kernel image behaves the way it does (posssibly
] good!) is not my favourite occupation.
]
] You can compile this code nine ways:
]
] 1) zilch
] 2) two kernel modules, one tiny, one big (3-5K + 50K). The big one
] is a load and immediate unload job.
] 3) kernel imprint of 3-5K plus the extra big temp module.
] 4) one kernel module, about 5-7K.
] 5) all in kernel, about 5-7K.
] ...

The patch is set up to auto-integrate into the make files.

Peter
